Data sources

Last updated 6 July 2026

Every figure KANZA CAPITAL PARTNERS publishes is sourced, dated, and reconciled to the record. This page sets out the source hierarchy behind the platform — the market data, official statistics and filings that power the tape, the Markets pages, company coverage, The Brief and the Ghost.

The source hierarchy

When sources disagree, the higher authority wins; when a figure cannot be verified against its authority, we publish nothing rather than guess. Null beats fabricated, always.

  1. Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange — the source of record for listed-company closes, index levels (DSEI, TSI and the sector indices) and market statistics. Our board, index series and market pages reconcile to the DSE’s published figures.
  2. Bank of Tanzania (bot.go.tz) — the authority for the policy rate (CBR), official exchange rates, gold reference prices, government-securities auctions, reserves and monetary statistics.
  3. Company annual reports and audited financial statements — the basis for revenue, profit, EPS, dividends, margins and segment analysis on company pages and in subscriber briefs.
  4. Government statistical and sectoral bodies — the National Bureau of Statistics (inflation, GDP), the Mining Commission, ministry budget documents.
  5. Open-source news reporting — for corporate actions, policy developments and market context, always attributed.
  6. Specialist data partners — used to corroborate and enrich our research.

Freshness, honestly labelled

Market figures carry their as-at date and status — “verified close” or the session date — so you always know exactly what you are looking at. Data is manually captured and point-in-time; verify against the official source before relying on any figure for a transaction.
